You're all set! Let's submit some rainfall readings. 🌧️
In CitSci, click on My Projects, and then Mātaki Marangai.
You'll then be able to click on the blue 'Add Data' button, and click on Precipitation.
A form will open up that looks like one below. Skip below to read more about filling in the form.
Click 'My Projects' at the bottom of the screen, and click 'Add Data' next to the Mātaki Marangai project. If you have just signed up and can't see this screen, close the app and reopen it, and it should now work 🌟
A form will then open up. Follow the instructions below to fill it in.
Change the date and time to the date and time when you took the reading from your rain gauge.
Choose your location, making sure it matches the location ID you've been sent. If you can't remember/find your location ID, email emily@bodekerscientific.com. The map will update and be close to the location of your rain gauge - we've moved your locations around a little bit on the map for your privacy 🔒
Fill in the precipitation reading in millimetres. You can use decimals if you can read them from your rain gauge. For more information on how to read your rain gauge, check this page.
Fill in the precipitation type: Rain, Hail or Snow*. 🌧️🧊❄️
Fill in any maramataka observations if you have any. To check out maramataka resources, go here.
Fill in any other observations you may have, if you like. Was there one hour of heavy rain and the rest of the day was sunny? Has it been windy? Are the rivers nearby high or low?
Upload an image if you'd like. It can be an image of your rain gauge full of water, of the dry ground, of a high river, or anything else of interest.
Click Submit or Save and you're all done! ✅ Thanks for submitting and see you tomorrow!
*If there is snow near the coast in Tairāwhiti it would be the first time in about 15 years... Definitely take a picture! ☃️
